Metal Building Systems Manual (MBSM) incorporates the results of research undertaken by Metal Building Manufacturers Association MBMA, its member companies and other industry groups. In many respects, it reflects refinement and advances in the knowledge of load application methods and design.
What is MBMA?
Found in 1956, the Metal Building Manufacturers Association (MBMA) serves as the voice of the metal building systems industry, providing leadership, research, and education to increase the prominence and usage of metal building systems. MBMA plays a lead role in research and engineering, and influences codes and standards.
MBSM – Description and benefits
Before MBMA was founded, each steel building provider used different methods of analysis, calculation and design their product. So the steel buildings were uneven in quality. Metal Building Systems Manual is a great publication for the purpose of providing technical guidance, the typical design details, introducing various types of metal roofing materials which have been used extensively worldwide.
The 2012 Metal Building Systems Manual is the latest edition of this manual, which was first published in 1959. This edition merges the 2010 Supplement to the 2006 Metal Building Systems Manual into one printed edition that has been updated to reflect the 2012 International Building Code (IBC). The Metal Building Systems Manual includes important topics for metal buildings such as load application, crane loads, fire ratings information and energy conservation. It also has material on common industry practices, guide specifications and climatologist data for the entire United States and the world.
