ATAD Welcomes University of Architecture Ho Chi Minh City Students to visit Long Thanh International Airport Project

On the morning of January 14, ATAD Steel Structure Corporation welcomed a delegation of students and lecturers from University of Architecture Ho Chi Minh City (UAH) for a site visit to the Long Thanh International Airport. This national key aviation infrastructure project, ATAD is the main contractor for steel structures and cladding scope of the passenger, accounting for more than 80% of the project’s total scope of work.

More than 40 students and lecturers from the University of Architecture Ho Chi Minh City visited the Long Thanh International Airport project.

The on-site visit was part of the comprehensive cooperation program between ATAD and the University of Architecture Ho Chi Minh City, aiming to provide students with opportunities to experience a real working environment and to apply the professional knowledge acquired at university to the practical construction of large-scale projects.

Mr. Mai Phuoc Duc, ATAD Project Director, introduced the project and provided safety instructions to the student delegation prior to the site visit.

During the site visit, Mr. Mai Phuoc Duc directly shared insights into the construction and erection process of more than 5,300 tons of steel structures.

Representing ATAD, Mr. Mai Phuoc Duc, ATAD Project Director, provided an overview of the project scale, the steel structure fabrication – delivery – erection process, and shared detailed insights into the successful lifting of the central steel roof structure weighing more than 5,300 tons using the lifting method.

The student delegation was guided through various sections and areas of the passenger terminal.

Key topics related to construction organization, stringent quality control in each weld and bolted connection, monitoring works, forecasting and risk management, as well as the project’s distinctive technical details, were presented clearly and analyzed in detail. In addition, Mr. Mai Phuoc Duc took time to address students’ questions regarding construction techniques and project management.

These hands-on experiences play an important role in enhancing students’ professional competencies and helping them gain a clearer understanding of the nature of the work and their future career orientation.

Through the on-site visit, students not only gained a comprehensive overview of the construction process of the steel structures and roof system of Long Thanh International Airport passenger terminal, but also developed a deeper understanding of the role of steel structures in iconic projects, along with the stringent requirements in terms of engineering standards, construction organization, safety and quality management. These practical experiences are essential in strengthening students’ professional capabilities and clarifying their future career paths.
